Legacy of Service Grants

cosowo

The San Luis Obispo County on the Status of Women and Girls (COSWG) in partnership with the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls

to build local infrastructure to support a legacy of service. The COSGW recognizes that there is a generational gap in leadership for many of our non-profits and service organizations. The Commission would like to identify and partner with local small qualifying organizations to create innovative ways to engage and connect girls and young women with service organizations to support the sustainability and longevity of these organizations.

Amount and Purpose

In accordance with the CA Commission Recovery Grant, awards will be based upon the following criteria:

A One-Time Award of $1,000.00 will be awarded in each supervisorial district. One small qualifying organization from each district will be selected. Small organization as defined by an annual operating budget of less than $50,000.00 and with two or less paid staff. The awarded funds must directly benefit the supervisorial district of the organization.

The purpose of the Legacy of Service Grant may be used for young girls and women to facilitate sustainable practices for service organizations (i.e. Camera to support hybrid meeting options, creation of e-newsletter templates, update outreach platforms).

Criteria for Selection

Grantees will be selected on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis.

The organizations mission should be in line with the COSWG’s mission and values; and must be a non-profit organization that is in good standing with Federal, State and Local government agencies, including tax filings.

Applicants shall be required to submit a completed application and supporting materials of Articles of Incorporation, roster of current board members and Internal Revenue Service Tax Exempt Letter.

The COSWG reserves the right to impose additional, minor reasonable restrictions and/or requirements upon the awarding of Legacy of Service and the administration of such funds. Any substantial or material changes will be made only with the approval of the COSWG Commissioners.

The grant funds awarded shall be paid by COSWG directly to the non-profit organization. The awarded organization shall agree to use the funds as stated above.

A final report and presentation of the use of funds must be submitted to the COSWG no later than January 31, 2025. If the COSWG learns

that any part of the grant award is not being used in furtherance of the stated purpose, the COSWG shall take all reasonable and appropriate steps to recover the funds.
